A car I've never heard of, the 1982 Dodge 400

Introduced in 1982, the Dodge 400 was our entry in a new compact luxury class that emerged in the 1980s

The 400 shared its basic K-car architecture with the Dodge Aries, the hot-selling front-drive compact sedan. Extra sound insulation and other measures were employed to make the ride as plush and quiet as possible, all in an effort to give buyers a luxury-car experience in a compact package.

  2. The Dodge 400 was also the car that brought back the convertible. Iacocca cut the top a 400 prototype and drove it around as his personal car in 82. In the 1983 model year they introduced the 400 Convertible. (actuall introduction beat the 1983 Mustang Convertible. Followed in 1984 by the Doge 600 and Chrysler Lebaron Convertibles.
