the seventies puked all over this Superbird... hood scoops from a Dart and sidepipes? Good lord! I bet they had a CB antenna on it too!

be a true friend, don't let your friend do drugs and put hood scoops on anything Road Runner derived. It's just not right. Super Birds, Road Runners, GTX, Belvedere, and Satellites... no adding hood scoops. It either has the 440 Six Pack lift off 1969 1/2 fiberglass A12 hood... or it was never meant to have fiberglass on the hood. Either it was blessed from the factory with the push button Air Grabber rising scoop from the carb, or it had a flat and lifeless hood. No mixing and matching!

  3. I don't recall Challengers having that style hood scoop. They look to me to be early 70's style Firebird Formula scoops.

    1. I've been wrong before, and will be again... they are 1973 Dart Sport scoops.

  4. There were no great sins committed with this car. Any of these modifications could be easily removed by any subsequent owner that didn't care for them. Personally, I love side pipes. Always have and always will. Also, the Corvette in your current banner looks much better with the mags than it would with the original wheels and hubcaps. Of course, that's just my opinion, but either of these can be easily removed to restore the cars to their original condition.

If you don't like what the owner did to this car that's fine, but in order to remain consistent, you must also ACTIVELY CONDEMN the current trends of lowering suspensions for the sake of "stance", or butchering wheel wells and installing minitubs for the sake of having wider tires. Both of these actions more or less, permanently change the car from original condition making, it very difficult and expensive to return it to factory specs.

In my opinion, any modification is OK, as long as it can be easily and inexpensively undone. I'll take a car with a jacked up rear end and rear tires stacking out two inches from the quarter panels anytime, over one that can't even enter a parking lot or gas station with out bottoming out, and a trunk that has been so hacked up that you can't fit in a suit case and a spare tire.

Guys like Chip Foose have permanently ruined more classic cars than all the rednecks who ever installed side pipes, air shocks, and extended spring shackles, put together.

    1. (Insert brake squeal sound as I lock up all four tires and smoke into a full 4 wheel drift sideways) I was being... wait, I was TRYING to be funny. I love side pipes too. They are cool as hell, on vans, and Vettes, and a few other cars. But the hood scoops? Oh hell no. Holes in the hood can't be easily removed. So.. I completely disagree with that tiny detail. Also, I am not out to be consistant, just entertaining, and often, I fail at that. I was thrown by the Dart hood scoops... they are bad. I tried to be funny, and I was bad at that. Damn... not much there at all to keep this whole post from being a complete fail
